We do care about the environment, as it is the only way to keep the world clean and safe from harsh and toxic pollutants and promote green projects. However, the leather industry has come under scrutiny in recent years due to its impact on the environment. The leather industry is responsible for a large number of toxic pollutants being released into the environment. These pollutants can have a serious impact on the health of both humans and animals. In addition, the leather industry also generates a large amount of solid waste each year.
Despite these challenges, ELICO is taking steps to reduce its impact on the environment. Several tanneries and manufacturers have implemented green projects and waste management programs. These initiatives are helping to keep the environment clean and safe.
If you are concerned about the environment, then you should consider buying leather products that have been produced ethically. Look for ELICOs products that have been certified by an independent organization such as the ISO. This will ensure that the leather has been produced in a way that is friendly to the environment.
Our leather industry is progressing forward and gaining an intense position in terms of the scale of production and competitiveness. We are upscaling our level to an ever-lasting transformation. We have grown and transformed ourselves via integrating horizontally and vertically through the market and industry.
Elico has acquired four independent leather companies namely Awash tannery, Universal Leather, Fontenina shoe and Tikur Abay Leather together and administered under ELICO which greatly affects the cost of production, Pricing, Market Share and competition locally and internationally.
Alongside Elico has strategically expanded vertically from collecting animal hide to final distributing its latest products. Every stage of production has been well localized to ensure quality and save resources and have a full supply chain.
